Halloween fans in South Jersey can turn one Saturday night into a two-stop haunted trail trip when the Wenonah Lake Association and Oak Valley Athletic Association host their respective Halloween attractions on Oct. 24.

The two trails are close enough to be paired into one evening, and organizers are making that easier with a free shuttle bus running between the events. Shuttle stops are planned at the Wenonah Swim Club, Wenonah Park, the Wenonah Lake grounds and the entrance to the Oak Valley Haunted Trail.

Both locations begin with a less-intense kid walk from 6 to 6:30 p.m. After that, the trails shift into their full-scare versions for the rest of the night. Oak Valley's trail runs until 9 p.m., while the Wenonah Lake trail continues until 9:30 p.m.

The night is also a fundraiser for two local community organizations. An organizer said 100% of the proceeds from the Wenonah Lake Haunted Trail go toward events and the lake grounds, while proceeds from the Oak Valley trail support the Oak Valley Athletic Association.

The Haunted Trail was revived in 2024 after a hiatus, and Wenonah Lake Association reporting said that year's event drew more than 900 guests. The association lists the Haunted Trail as one of its recurring community events and says fundraising supports programming, events and improvements around Wenonah Lake.

The Oak Valley Athletic Association, meanwhile, operates youth baseball, softball, T-ball and basketball programs from its Princeton Boulevard complex in the Oak Valley section of Deptford Township. Its haunted trail starts from the same 561 Princeton Blvd. location used by the association's athletic programs.

Admission is handled separately at each trail. Oak Valley charges $5 for children through age 10 and $10 for ages 11 and older. Wenonah Lake charges $5 for guests under 18 and $10 for adults 18 and older. Cash and Venmo are accepted at both events.

For families with younger children, the matching 6 to 6:30 p.m. kid-walk windows offer a way to experience the trails before the darker version of the night gets underway. For older kids and adults, the free shuttle makes it possible to hit both full-scare trails without having to treat them as separate outings.

The result is a distinctly local Halloween doubleheader: two community-built haunts, two fundraisers and one night that helps support the places and programs behind them.
